WoW the movie?
Is it just me, or is Blizzard overstepping their popularity? World of Warcraft is easily the most popular MMO of our time, with its seamless maps and addictive gameplay. But I'm not sure how they're gonna pull off a cinematic feature lol. Personally, I don't think it will be as big as Legendary Studios anticipates it will be. What do u think? In other news, I watched the Bourne Ultimatum on Friday. I thought it was pretty good (in fact, I'm probably seeing it again soon). The second movie of the series, Bourne Supremacy, was quite hard to follow... but this one was pretty engaging. If u haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend it. BTW, I'm probably not gonna be using LJ for much longer :(. I just got an IGN account, so I can keep in touch with the gaming world a bit more. In a few weeks, I'll probably make that my official blog site. (for now, I'm posting on both sites). If u wanna join me, register at ign.com, and add me ( http://blogs.ign.com/jlr2k8). cyaz! | | Wednesday, August 1st, 2007 | | 11:30 pm |
Haven't posted in a while... I haven't posted lately, but I've read through almost all of your blog posts for the past week.
So yeah, we watched the Simpson's movie today (Yosef and I). For most Simpson's fans, it was undoubtedly disappointing. The well-known parodies and gag jokes were luke-warm, while drama and adventure were more prominent throughout the entire movie. Thankfully, I didn't have high expectations for the movie. After all, the Simpson's is the longest running cartoon series... so on top of running out of popular story ideas, the Simpson's has to deal with Family Guy, a cartoon series that really stole their thunder.
Anyways, the reason why I haven't posted in a while is cuz the past couple weeks or so have been a bit boring (stupid summer school). And this week isn't going by any faster. I am going to Wild Waves tomorrow for the second time this summer, so that should be cool.
Keep posting blogs, I'll do my best to comment. | | Tuesday, July 24th, 2007 | | 12:15 pm |
psh...
I'm probably the only one by now who hasn't read the 7th book. I don't even need to say the title, cuz it's everywhere on my friend's page lol. I haven't read the 6th one either... I should probably get on that.... | | Sunday, July 22nd, 2007 | | 4:01 pm |
A very underrated movie.
There are over 37 reviews, which critiqued the movie Harry Potter: Order of the Phoenix. At least half of the reviews were negative, or contained derogatory feedback based on the movie, simply because J.K. Rowling portrayed a depressing setting filled with anger, rage, and rebellion. Well duh! That's how the book was written! It wouldn't make sense if the movie tried to make the story cheerful. The L.A. Times, who rated the movie a scathing 2.5/5 stars, said this to support their view: "Looking so disgruntled in his gray hoodie that you fear he might start rapping, Harry comes off as more Grumpy Potter than the bright light of the wizarding world." Anyone that rated the movie with this kind of logic obviously didn't read the book. Reviews should be based on how well it portrayed the story, not on the story itself. | | Thursday, July 19th, 2007 | | 11:29 pm |
Time to pick up the weights.
Since the beginning of March, I've been on a diet which has proven to be very successful. Since March 1st, I've lost 45lbs (insert applause here). The problem I face now is the fact that I still have another 15-20 more to go, and I can't seem to get it off lol. OMG! GO AWAY!!!!!!!! To solve the problem, my effort will have to go much deeper than just eating healthy... now I gotta start working out x_x. I got a weight training book today, which gives some useful tips and guidelines for successfully building muscle (and dropping fat). And, working at Herfy's really isn't helping lol. Oh yeah, and Harry Potter was amazing. | | Friday, July 13th, 2007 | | 9:23 am |
Diamond Rio!
Pretty cool trip. My dad made me drive down the entire way, while he watched movies on his DVD player and slept. But I didn't complain. The concert played at the Oregon Garden at 7pm. There are no seating assignments, since it's just a huge grass hill with the stage at the bottom. We sat on the left side of the audience at the very front (so we were in the corner), and on the stage's right side. As the opening singer (some chick named Mary Flower) continued, I could see Gene Johnson, the mandolin player/tenor vocalist of the band "Diamond Rio", at the bottom of the stage's steps. He and one of the tech guys were behind a nylon tent behind the stage's fence, which serves as on off-stage area. Gene Johnson is basically my idol. All my life, I've listened to Diamond Rio, and picked up on the mandolin because of Gene. And as I sat there, he was only 20 feet away from me. I nudged my dad and pointed out the mandolin player, and we both saw him. When I told him what his name was, he got up, walked to the other side of the audience, and talked to the stage security. He bribed the guard into letting me go in and meet him. An unsuccessful attempt, my dad came back, and yelled his name. Gene turned around, confused. At this point, I was surprised that he acknowledged someone calling him. My dad and I walked toward the fence, and he came toward us! We introduced ourselves, and shook hands through the fence. I nearly crapped myself lol. I'm not obsessed, but let's put it in perspective: Think about an actor you've been watching, or perhaps a musician you've been listening to for your entire life. Now go to their live performance, call out their name, and shake their hand through the fence. As witnesses hurried over excitedly, he returned to the tent to avoid unwanted attention. During the concert, I hung out as close the stage as I could (which was the small fence, 3 feet in front of the stage). After each song, the band members threw their picks out to the crowd. Gene always aimed his picks to me, since I was the closest to him, and I had met him just before the concert. I caught one of them (the other three didn’t make it past the fence). I have it here right now. After the concert ended, the band descended down the stairs near where I was, and once again, my dad called out his name. He came up to the fence cautiously, trying to avoid being seen by the leaving crowd. I asked if I could get a picture with him, and realizing there is no possible way to get close without security seeing us, he said "Uh, I wish, but I'm not sure how..." My dad and I found a gap in the fence about 10 feet away, and walked in lol. Not one guard saw us pass through (great security). A nearby fan followed us in (thank god it was only one). While we were back there, my dad took a picture of Gene, the fan that followed us in, and I. Gene and I talked for about 5 minutes. Of course, when you're talking face-to-face with one of your biggest heroes, you want to ask a million questions. However, I chose not to leave an awkward impression. | | Wednesday, July 11th, 2007 | | 9:20 pm |
So, it was a little hot today?
Yeah awesome. No A/C at our place. Good thing it was only 100 degrees ;). I probably wasted a lot of power and cold air today with the several times I stuck my face in the freezer. Hey, but at least we're not having a crazy wind/snow storm like November *shudders*. | | Monday, July 9th, 2007 | | 9:06 pm |
One down, two to go. Sunday. The plan was to be in the car for over 8 hours, while scouting out hang-out/camping areas along the Oregon cost (down highway 101). Sometime in the middle of the trip, we would maybe have time for an hour or so of fun on Cannon Beach. I-5 was cloudy and gray, and we feared that the beach would be too cold.
But it wasn't like that. It was MUCH better! Once we got to Oregon, we cruised down Highway 101, hitting every cool spot on the way down. The farther we drove, the brighter and hotter it got. After a little while on the beach, we got a little sun-burned. But it was definitely worth it. Cannon Beach is as amazing as it was the previous two years, when I went with the YMCA. If you all have the chance to visit Cannon Beach, I recommend that you stop at the small ice-cream place on the beach... they have 47 flavors (take THAT Baskin Robbins!), and more candy in one store than you'll see in your entire life combined. Of course, I had to stay a little faithful to my diet, so one scoop of blackberry was all I needed.
Coming up next? Diamond Rio is coming to the Oregon Garden. This Thursday, my dad and I will be driving down just past Portland to Silverton, and FINALLY be in the audience of my favorite band in the world. The greatest part about the event is that there is no "seating assignments"... you just pick a place on the lawn. This gives me the opportunity to come up close. So freakin' excited!!
This post is boring to you guys... I can smell that already. So for the sake of comments, what are your plans for the summer? | | Saturday, July 7th, 2007 | | 2:43 pm |
Oregon 3x!
My highlights this summer? Not only am I going to Oregon this August for our Oregon trip, but I am going two other times before that. In fact, I'm going tomorrow morning. Tomorrow, Sean and I are driving down to our planned camp hang-out spot to scout out attractions and other places in Oregon, then coming back. Tomorrow won't be a gonna be a blast, but hey... a day out of state is better than nothing, eh? On July 12th, Diamond Rio is coming to Oregon Garden, Silverton, OR. This band, which I've basically listened to my entire life, rarely ever comes this close to Washington. A few months ago, my dad offered to take me out of state for a few days this summer, so I'm taking up his offer this Thursday. I'll be missing two days of summer school, but I'll live. I already talked to my teachers ahead of time, and they said it was fine. And of course, my third visit to Oregon will be the actual Trip. As of tomorrow, it'll be all planned out. Reservations have already been made, and everyone (including parents) is agreeable and on the same page. Now, to count the number of times I said Oregon in this entry: 7 sheesh... | | Wednesday, July 4th, 2007 | | 11:58 pm |
Not as much fireworks as planned... So much for the Fourth of July party tonight... it was cancelled because a bunch of dumbasses involved the police. Wow, good job guys. But, in place of a celebration, I got to play Mercenaries (a really cool RTS for the PS2) all night. A friend of mine brought it over yesterday, and he told me it was the best PS2 game he's ever played. I gotta agree....
Anyways, for the sake of comments, how was your fourth of July? | | Sunday, July 1st, 2007 | | 9:57 pm |
iTs JuLy!!!!!!!
I love how no one replied to my last entry. Of course, it was a little long (sry) and *yawns* boooooring. Anyways, I have no idea why I'm actually posting... I really don't have anything to say :D. | | Thursday, June 28th, 2007 | | 9:39 pm |
An end to the longest school year ever, and a beginning to a GREAT summer! OMG! It's finally over. Holy hell... it really was the longest year ever. I started out with full-time Running Start at BCC for fall quarter (September through December). The quarter wasn't that bad. But as I began to lose my grip on my grades, the quarter dragged on for what seemed like FOREVER! And on that final week, as we approached finals, it felt like the end of the school year. Of course, it was only December... so that wasn't right.
Upon deciding to return to Skyline full-time, I had to wait two long months at home for semester 2 to start. Some people might think that 2 months off school isn't that bad. Well, these people obviously don't account for the fact that you sacrifice two months of your social life, unlike summer where all of your friends are out of school with you. Also, you might think that two months out of school, whether you're alone or not, isn't that long... and that such a short time shouldn't be complained about. Ok, to better demonstrate 2 months of boredem, this is what you do: sit facing a wall in a quiet room for 2 hours, and tell me how long that felt :). Good, now do that for 2 months. Ah well, I got to spend time with some very lonely video games of mine ;).
Second semester starts... and who do I get for block teachers? Yay for me, because I get a second dose of Braman/Heidergott! When I started second semester, I felt like I was beginning another year of school. It's a weird illusion when you transition from one long period to the next, and in only over the same course of time as any other year of school.
And for those of u who IMed, emailed, (and even called me) regarding my break-up with Chelsee, all I'm gonna say is that I had a lot of small problems with her that sorta built up... many of which I'm not going to disclose to you or even her. | | Saturday, June 23rd, 2007 | | 11:07 pm |

A little worried... After my horrible experience with work-load and grades at BCC, I decided to return to Skyline for the second semester. My goal this semester is to leave junior year with a B average or better. Throughout this semester, I have maintained a B average (with the exception of English w/ Braman, where I've had a C pretty much the entire time). Also during this semester, my grade has slowly been dropping. What used to be a bunch of high Bs (and a C) is now falling to low Bs... and now my History grade has recently been introduced to a C+, and my sports med a B-.
My grades now:
Weight Training: A- Sports Med: B- English: C History: C+ Studio Art: B+ Geometry: A-
Definitely not how I expected to end this semester. Though I am a little worried, I know I've improved since last year. And as Mr. Braman (English teacher) told me, this year is different because I'm not contemplating whether I pass or fail.

I don't know about the sports part, but... that's cool. | You Are From Mars | You're energetic, althletic, and totally hyperactive. You love playing sports and being in the middle of all of the action. You're independent, corageous, and brave. Unafraid to do things your way. Mars can be reckless, quick tempered, and a little too spontaneous. So think before you act - and resist your natural urges to dominate others. | | | Tuesday, June 12th, 2007 | | 8:33 pm |
Just a week (and a half) left! CAN'T WAIT UNTIL SCHOOL ENDS! OMG! Just as school winds down, classes wrap up their last unit. Nothing to do this week except study for the finals next week. Oh but wait, there's more! Our wonderful block teachers found another way to piss on our life once again! Not only do we get a whole new unit, but thanks to their lack of organizational skills, the unit is condensed into one week!
I wish I was a senior this year (who wouldn't). Seniors get out on the 15th... which is my b-day. (insert happy b-day song here) | | Tuesday, June 5th, 2007 | | 11:43 pm |
Whew!
Recently, I checked my schedule at Herfy’s. To my surprise, my boss said I wasn’t working this week… at all. When I asked him why I didn’t have any hours, he told me that there were too many people working there. Wow… good job for hiring too many people, buddy. A great time to tell me that would’ve been before you hired me. I asked one of the seniors that works there about this situation. He told me that every teen that works there is a senior, and will be leaving after graduation. My boss is looking for juniors to take their place now. Whew! ------ BTW, the email method of posting to LJ doesn't seem to work. I tried posting this entry last night. The format is supposed to be jlr2k8+password@post.livejournal.com, but obviously that's wrong. I'm not going to disclose my actual password, because of people like Keylah ;). | | Friday, June 1st, 2007 | | 11:20 pm |
Ahhh, yet another great Friday. Ever seen a bicycle with an electric motor attached to it? Ever think that motor could propel you ~30 mph for about 2 hours non-stop? Well I saw one! And I got to ride it! WEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! So, I hung out at Sean's today... and this bike is literally one of the coolest inventions that I've ever seen. Other than the fact that you can bum off the power of an electric motor, bikers can use this hybrid pedal-motor powered bike to assist them on steep hills (which is actually the practical way to use it).
Also... I saw a hilarious movie at his place, called Idiocracy. Starring Luke Wilson (Joe Bauers), this movie was about a marine soldier, with side-kick Maya Rudolph (Rita), who is a part of a top-secret human preservation mission. The mission is simply a complex capsule device, which these two characters are to be frozen in, and preserved for one year. Forgotten and long lost, Joe and Rita wake up 500 years in the future, where human intelligence has tangibly decreased (or otherwise known, un-evolved) severely. Citizens in this post-modern world now sport an average IQ of 60, and the world has fallen to a corruption of pure (and comical) stupidity. Joe, who has an IQ well over twice their average, is faced with adapting to and taking on a leadership role for improving this progressively uncivil world. Current Mood: ... it's nearly midnight. | | Thursday, May 31st, 2007 | | 10:16 am |
